Topography of a Love Story
Melissa & Josh
Aspen, Colorado
When Melissa and Josh chose to marry at the iconic The Little Nell in Aspen, they knew their wedding would be rooted in the mountains they love to explore together. Drawn to off-the-beaten-path adventures and alpine air, they wanted their guests to feel immersed in Colorado from the very first envelope.
We began with a custom die-cut folio in a dusty blue hue, thoughtfully designed to mirror the topographic map of Aspen. Inside, each piece of the suite featured letterpress paired with subtle blind deboss detailing — creating raised and recessed impressions that echoed the natural contours of the landscape. The blind deboss elements were understated yet deeply intentional, offering a quiet luxury that rewarded a closer look.
A hand-painted watercolor mountain scene lined the envelopes, while carefully curated vintage postage in coordinating mountain tones completed the outer presentation. Even their beloved dog made a cameo appearance on the weekend adventure guide — a playful nod to the life they’ve built together outdoors.
Mountain-inspired details carried seamlessly into the day-of paper, tying every touchpoint together with refined cohesion. The overall aesthetic felt elevated and textural, organic yet polished — much like Aspen itself.
And while the design honored the serenity of the peaks, it also left room for celebration. Because at the heart of it all, Melissa and Josh don’t just love to explore — they love to gather, toast, dance, and turn a beautiful setting into an unforgettable party.
